Department of Anesthesiology
The Department of Anesthesiology provides the full spectrum of clinical anesthesiology services as the Arizona Health Sciences Center. These include both major and minor operating room anesthesia, consultation services in airway management and vascular access, preoperative patient assessment and optimization, emergency resuscitation, and critical care medicine. In addition, the department operates a comprehensive acute and chronic pain service including an outpatient pain clinical service and consultation service for other departments.
The department provides expertise in all subspecialties of anesthesiology, including cardiovascular, obstetric, neurosurgical, pediatric, transplantation, trauma, intensive care, and pain management. Major areas of research include inhalation anesthesia, obstetric anesthesia, central mechanisms of anesthesia, resuscitation, cardiopulmonary monitoring, and pain management.
