Safal Shetty, MD

Assistant Professor, Medicine - (Clinical Scholar Track)

Dr. Shetty earned his medical degree (MBBS) from the M.S. Ramaiah Medical College in Bangalore, India (2001), followed by an internship at the teaching hospital there. He was a house officer (resident) at the Mayo Heart Clinic and Diagnostic Centre, also in Bangalore. Afterward, he held several house officer and clinical observership positions at facilities in India and the United Kingdom. His residency in Internal Medicine was at Franklin Square Medical Center, an affiliate of the University of Maryland in Baltimore. Dr. Shetty was an Assistant Professor in Internal Medicine at Louisiana State University Health Sciences in New Orleans before coming to the University of Arizona Health Network in February 2013. UAHN merged with Banner Health to form a new academic medicine division, Banner - University Medicine, in February 2015. He completed a Fellowship in Sleep Medicine at Banner University Medical Center Tucson in 2015. He now teaches at the University of Arizona Division of Pulmonary, Allergy, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine with clinical work at the Center for Sleep Disorders at Banner UMC Tucson.
