The University of Arizona/UPHK Graduate Medical Education Consortium

The University of Arizona and University Physicians Healthcare (now The University of Arizona Physicians) have developed new residency programs with an emphasis on rural and medically underserved areas. These programs are unique in that they offer rotations for residents interested in either generalist or specialty programs in a variety of rural and medically underserved settings. Two of these programs, psychiatry and internal medicine, began in July 2008. Residencies in neurology, emergency medicine, family medicine and ophthalmology all were in place by 2010.
