Sarver Heart Center 30th Anniversary Lecture Series: ‘Resuscitation Research: More Ways to Cheat Death,’ Jan. 18

On Jan. 18, Karl B. Kern, MD, and Gordon A. Ewy, MD, will present a community lecture, part of Sarver Heart Center’s 30th Anniversary Lecture Series, on the Resuscitation Research Group’s history and continued progress to improve care for sudden cardiac arrest patients.


Vitamin E and Selenium Don’t Prevent Polyps That Can Lead to Colorectal Cancer

Led by the University of Arizona Cancer Center’s Peter Lance, MD, a SWOG review of the Selenium and Vitamin E Cancer Prevention Trial (SELECT) results definitively shows that these two antioxidants don’t prevent colorectal adenomas – polyps that are the premalignant precursors to most colorectal cancers.

Wildcat Hockey Team to Host Third Annual `Pink the Rink’ Jan. 20

Wildcat hockey players will sport pink jerseys honoring those who have suffered from cancer when they take on Utah at the Tucson Convention Center. Community members are invited to purchase and place the name of a loved one on a special jersey to be worn by an Arizona player during the game. Proceeds from jersey sales will benefit the University of Arizona Cancer Center.
