P-MAP Admissions Criteria

Basic Eligibility Criteria

Consideration will be given to applicants who among other things:

  • Are Arizona Residents
  • Have faced socioeconomic disadvantages, are first generation college attendees, grew up in either a rural or US/Mexico border region, OR are enrolled members in federally recognized American Indian tribes
  • Demonstrate principles of cultural competence in healthcare
  • Demonstrate attributes such as altruism and social accountability
  • Are fluent in English and conversant in languages commonly spoken in Arizona (e.g., Spanish, Navajo)

Academic Requirements

Applicants must meet all academic requirements listed below:

  • Have a minimum 3.0 overall undergraduate GPA and overall undergraduate BCPM GPA of 3.0
  • ** Note: Upon further review applicants who do not have a 3.0 undergraduate GPA, but who have taken at least 12 credits of either post-baccalaureate or graduate coursework in premedical hard sciences and earned at least a 3.0 GPA in that coursework, may be considered, though not guaranteed.
  • Have a minimum 3.0 GPA in the required science coursework
  • You can apply while in the process of completing these courses core academic prerequisite coursework 
  • Have completed a bachelor's degree prior to starting the program
  • MCAT score of 498 or higher
    • Must have taken the MCAT within 3 years of matriculation for medical school (ex: Students starting P-MAP in 2021 will start medical school in 2022; they must have taken the MCAT in June 2018 or later)
