The UA College of Medicine annual Reunion and Homecoming weekend is just around the corner, and it promises to be the best ever! Taking place on Friday, November 8 and Saturday, November 9, activities include our traditional programs for reunion year alumni (1973, 1978, 1983, 1988, 1993, 1998, 2003 and 2008) such as the annual reunion reception and dinner, and Med School 2.0, an afternoon program with tours of some of the College of Medicine’s outstanding programs.
There are also activities for all of you who are College of Medicine alumni and your families, whether this is your reunion year or not!
For the first time we’re offering a Continuing Medical Education program, Innovative Medicine: New Approaches to Old Challenges, featuring some world-class speakers and exciting topics. The CME program takes place on Friday, November 8 from 9-11 am in the Arizona Cancer Center’s Kiewit Auditorium at the UA Medical Center. Participants receive two CME credits for no cost! Presenters include Dr. Gordon Ewy, professor emeritus of Cardiology at the UA College of Medicine and beloved friend and mentor to many of you; Dr. James Scott, an alumnus from the Class of 1983 and renowned expert on global health; and Dr. Farid Gharagozloo, a new UA College of Medicine superstar who is saving lives with minimally invasive robotic surgery for mesothelioma.
All alumni are also invited to the Homecoming Tailgate Party on Saturday, November 9, prior to the UA vs. UCLA football game. Join the UA College of Medicine community and enjoy a pre-game meal, wine and beer, and watch the Homecoming Parade and Wildcat Walk. The tent opens five hours before kick-off, and Arizona Athletics announces kick-off time about a week before the game. This is another no-cost event, and a way for the Alumni Affairs Office to say, “Thank you for being a MedCat for Life!”
RSVP is required for both the CME and tailgate party. If you’d like to attend, you can sign up by going to our website and click on the “Register Now” button, or contact Holly Altman, Director of Alumni Affairs, at (520) 626-9423 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
For those of you reunion year alumni, please check our website for detailed information on the dinner, Med School 2.0, and all the other events, including information and links for registration.
We look forward to seeing you in November!
