UA Grad Works to Increase College of Medicine Alumni Connections

Monday, October 1, 2012

The Office of Alumni Affairs would like to introduce our wonderful new staff member, Shannon Maule. Shannon is the driving force behind our e-newsletters and social media efforts.

Shannon began her work at the University of Arizona College of Medicine – Tucson in June 2011 as a social media and communications student intern. In about one-year’s time, she has created, written and published seven e-newsletters, increased our Facebook contacts by more than 600, while working diligently to maintain and update our alumni website.

The Arizona native graduated from the UA in May 2012 with a bachelor’s degree in journalism and a minor in Spanish. Her passion for writing and communication has enabled her to flourish in her role at the College of Medicine.

“My hope is that the content I produce in the e-newsletters encourages alumni to stay involved and engaged with the College of Medicine,” she said. “Working with kind and patient physicians inspires me to continue to fulfill my role in the Office of Alumni Affairs. Not to mention, I love to learn about the various ways in which the alumni are improving medicine across the United States.”

Shannon regularly contacts alumni for e-newsletter article interviews. If you have any stories you’d like to share with your peers about what you’re doing in medicine, please contact Shannon at

Shannon’s work with the College of Medicine fits well with her long-term goals.
Currently, she works for the college remotely from Phoenix, as she attends Arizona State University to obtain a master’s degree in higher and postsecondary education. She said her ultimate goal is to lead a public institution as a dean of students, after working in various areas of the university system and completing a PhD.
