After nearly a decade of effort by Arizonans, the University of Arizona College of Medicine was dedicated on Nov. 17, 1967, laying the foundation for excellence in education, research, service and patient care on behalf of the people of Arizona.
Today, the UA College of Medicine lays claim to innumerable accomplishments over the last 50 years. With 20 departments, including five basic science and 15 clinical science departments, as well as 14 centers dedicated to specific areas of research, both clinical and basic, the College’s continuing spirit of cooperation extends its community beyond the boundaries of city or state. It is poised to continue a rich history of service, not just to Arizonans but to people worldwide.
