The Office of Faculty Affairs hosted its 6th annual Faculty Social on Sunday, April 28. More than 175 guests attended the event, including 69 College of Medicine – Tucson faculty and their family members.
This year’s family-friendly event took place at the Tucson Botanical Gardens. Activities included face painting, raffles, a photo booth and walking the gardens. Special activities for children included coloring books and toys.
“This annual faculty appreciation event is an opportunity to thank our faculty,” says Patricia Markel, executive director of Faculty Affairs. “We are grateful to our faculty for all of their hard work—and not just in supporting the medical school, but in caring for patients, families and community members daily.”
The College of Medicine – Tucson's first Faculty Social took place in 2014 and was spearheaded by the Dean's Council on Faculty Affairs.
The 2019 Faculty Social was organized by the Office of Faculty Affairs, the Dean’s Council on Faculty Affairs and, for the first time, Banner Health. Assistant Dean for Faculty Development Allie Min, MD, was instrumental in inviting Banner Health to partner for the event, which was ultimately supported by funding from both Banner Health and the College of Medicine – Tucson.
