Andreas Theodorou, MD, FCCM, FAAP

Academic / Professional Bio: 

Dr. Theodorou is professor and vice chair of the Department of Pediatrics at University of Arizona College of Medicine – Tucson, and chief education officer with Banner University Medical Group. 

Research Interests: 

Dr. Theodorou has been recognized in Arizona for his expertise in treating children with traumatic brain injuries and other critical illnesses. He was the site co-principal investigator for the multi-center NIH-funded clinical trial, Therapeutic Hypothermia After Pediatric Cardiac Arrest (THAPCA), and has been a co-investigator for several scorpion antivenom studies in conjunction with the VIPER Institute. His other research interests pertain to patient safety, medical error reduction, and a direct observation approach to medication error and adverse drug event detection. He has been recognized for his teaching of medical students and residents and for curriculum development in interprofessional education.
