The Chronic Pain Management Fellowship program at the University of Arizona College of Medicine – Tucson is designed to provide comprehensive training to manage chronic pain patients with musculoskeletal, neuropathic and cancer pain. The program provides extensive training in the areas of conservative, pharmacological and interventional pain management techniques. We collaborate with other departments to provide exposure to neurology, psychiatry, radiology and other divisions to provide a multi-modal approach for pain control. We place patient safety as our top priority while focusing on exceptional education training.

The Pain Fellowship is an ACGME-accredited program offering a 12-month training in pain management. Fellows will gain expertise in evaluating and treating chronic and cancer pain while learning to establish pain management services. The multi-disciplinary Outpatient Pain Management Facility includes anesthesiologists collaborating with neurologists, neurosurgeons, orthopedic surgeons, physiatrists and psychiatrists.

Fellows will gain experience in pharmacological and non-pharmacological interventional techniques, including:

  • Fluoroscopic-guided somatic blocks
  • Sympathetic blocks
  • Neurolytic blocks
  • Radiofrequency ablation
