SPARCC
At SPARCC, we do not have shadowing experiences because we feel that hands-on experience in the clinic is more important. Students get the opportunity to participate in case studies that are created by our providers and retain valuable information. Our internship positions offer the opportunity to work directly with the doctor, patients and staff to get an idea of what it’s like to work in a medical office. Undergraduate or gap-year students interested in interning have the opportunity to apply to either spring, fall or summer internships. Time commitments for each internship will be listed below along with other pertinent information regarding application cycles. We offer two types of internships, and both include patient interaction.

Health Connector Internship
The K-12 Health Literacy Project, led by the University of Arizona Health Sciences, aims to boost science and health literacy among local students while training future health care providers to communicate effectively. This initiative includes the Life of a Disease program for high school students, featuring scenario-based learning on anatomy and health, and the Health Connectors internship, where college students teach third and fourth graders about health topics. The program is designed to empower students to make informed health decisions, address low health literacy and inspire interest in health care careers, with plans to expand outreach in Arizona schools.
