About the Presenter

Dr. Riaz was born in Pakistan where he spent his formative years. His interest in infectious diseases began during a research fellowship in cardiovascular infectious diseases at the Medical University of South Carolina. Mentored by Camelia Marculescu, MD, he found enjoyment and intrigue in taking care of patients with musculoskeletal infections. He furthered his skills in managing orthopedics infectious diseases, under the mentorship of Mayo Clinic’s Doug Osmon, MD. He has worked on multiple projects involving osteoarticular infections including a multi-center research study focused on the risk factors of fungal prosthetic joint infections.
