The Community Service Distinction Track builds on the current Commitment to Underserved People (CUP) requirements. Participation in the CUP program is required to attain Distinction in Community Service.
Preclerkship
Required: Commitment to Underserved People I (CUP I)
2 credits; 90 hours
MS2
Required: 3-page reflective paper outlining your CUP experience
Due, on March 1, or following the completion of the Transition to Clerkship course
Final Years
Required: Commitment to Underserved People I (CUP II)
2 credits; 90 hours
MS4
Required: 10-page cited research paper related to a health or social disparity issue encountered at CUP; in lieu of required 3-5-page reflective paper required of all MS4s
Due, on April 1 of the year the student graduates
University policy does not allow accrual of any credit from the preclerkship years to be counted toward credit in the post-clerkship years.
