Martin E. Weinand, MD, FACS, is a professor in the Division of Neurosurgery in the University of Arizona Department of Surgery and director of the Neurosurgery Residency program.
Dr. Weinand's clinical neurosurgical emphasis includes surgical management of intractable epilepsy, chronic pain, spasticity, pediatrics, and neurotrauma. Minimally invasive operations have been developed with collaborators nationwide in laser ablation of epileptic foci and peripheral nerve stimulation for chronic low back and facial pain syndromes. Nondestructive and reversible procedures for the treatment of chronic pain and spasticity include spinal cord stimulation and intrathecal (spinal) drug pump implantations.
