Fernando Martinez, MD
Dr. Martinez is Regents’ Professor, Swift-McNear Professor of Pediatrics and director of the Arizona Respiratory Center. He has been at the University of Arizona since 1987 and is a member of the National, Heart, Lung and Blood Institute (NHLBI) Advisory Council and the National Scientific Council on the Developing Child. He has been a member of the Board of Extramural Advisors of the NHLBI, and of the Pulmonary and Allergy Drug Advisory Committee of the Food and Drug Administration. He was also a member of the National Asthma Education and Prevention Program’s Expert Panel, which developed the last two versions of the NHLBI Guidelines for the Treatment of Asthma, and currently serves as a member of the National Heart, Lung and Blood Advisory Council. Dr Martinez has written more than 250 journal articles, book chapters and editorials, and has lectured in more than 50 countries across the world.
