Ajuni Choudhary, DO, MPH

Resident
Pediatrics - PGY-2

Where are you from? Ellicott City, Maryland.

Why did you choose the College of Medicine – Tucson Pediatrics Residency Program? When I was interviewing for residency programs, I hated this basic answer ... but it was the people! Even through the Zoom Social Hour, I was able to see the camaraderie between all the residents and it was the most memorable part of my interview journey. In addition, training in Tucson, Arizona, provides a unique patient population to treat and learn from. Lastly, I felt that this program emphasized resident wellness in comparison to others.

What are your current professional interests and career goals? At this time, I am interested in pursuing a fellowship in sports medicine to align my personal and professional goals of helping children stay active and healthy!

What are your personal interests and hobbies? I love being active! I mostly do this by lifting weights at the gym, but since moving to Tucson, I’ve gotten into biking — the Loop trail makes this so easy! In addition, I love cooking new recipes with my fiancé and traveling to new places.

What is your favorite thing about Tucson? The year-round sunshine! I can go outside before and after work for most of the year and that is something I never got growing up on the East Coast. There is so much to do, from outdoor activities to trying new restaurants to taking daytrips to discover Arizona’s beauty!

What are your non-medical goals during residency? I hope to keep up with my hobbies outside of residency, travel as much as possible and continue conquering life with my fiancé (which includes planning our wedding)!
