Amit Algotar, MD, PhD, MPH, FOMA
Dr. Algotar is a physician-scientist who provides both clinical care and conducts research. His research and clinical work focuses on lifestyle modification as a treatment modality for multiple chronic diseases. Dr. Algotar has special interests and experience in developing lifestyle modification interventions in men diagnosed with prostate cancer and receiving androgen deprivation therapy (ADT), since it is associated with elevated cardio-metabolic risk and lower quality of life. At the University of Arizona Cancer Center Survivorship Clinic, he uses lifestyle-based methods to help his patients prevent cancer progression and recurrence as well as take care of their survivorship-related needs. He also runs a lifestyle-based weight loss clinic at Banner – University Medical Center South to help patients achieve optimal weight and reduce their cancer, cardiovascular and endocrine risks.
