Christine E Chan, MD

I was born and raised in Hawaii, and went to college in Southern California, where I majored in Religious Studies and minored in Dance. I was lucky enough to go back home for medical school and cultivate my dream of becoming a doctor while also being able to enjoy time with my family, especially my now 97-year-old Grand-Aunty Jane! A couple weeks after graduation, my husband and I got married and left Hawaii for our 3-year honeymoon in Tucson. He's a resident in the South Campus Emergency Medicine Program, and we couples matched (I'd be happy to talk to any applicants about this process). In our spare time, we like to play with our dog, Luna, and explore our new city. I also enjoy dancing and doing crossword puzzles. I chose to pursue residency at the University of Arizona Family Medicine Residency Program because of the welcoming and supportive environment created by the faculty, residents, and support staff during my away rotation and on interview day. This program offers amazing opportunities in academic medicine, integrative medicine, and rural/global health. But the people really make it special. I am interested in Geriatric Medicine and Women's Health. I plan to do a fellowship and practice in Hawaii, hopefully working with residents and medical students, so I can pay forward all the good that people have done for me.
