Frank P Morello, MD

Associate Professor, Medical Imaging - (Clinical Scholar Track)

Interests in Pediatric and Interventional Radiology have led to a career path with Pediatric Interventional Radiology as an area of special interest. Beginning my career at a major children's hospital, the experience in the emerging subspecialty formed the base as the breadth and complexity of Pediatric IR patient care developed.Having established my interest and gained experience, I accepted an opportunity to develop a Pediatric JR program at another growing children's hospital. The experience was professionally rewarding, starting and expanding a service valuable to clinical physicians and their patients. It was also an opportunity to educate, train, and mentor Pediatric Radiology fellows into colleagues, just as I had been at the start of my career.Recently, the inviting opportunity to join the staff at the University of Arizona occurred with the opening of Diamond Children's Hospital. I see the same potential of bringing a subspecialty expertise in this new position, and further advancing patient care in southern Arizona.Along the way, I have been able to form many collegial relationships in a tight knit group of fellow Pediatric Interventional Radiologists. The meetings, discussions, and learning interactions have been immensely rewarding. We formalized our subspecialty in 2009 with the establishment of the Society for Pediatric Interventional Radiology which is recognized by the Society for Pediatric Radiology and the Society for Interventional Radiology. I am pleased to be a founding member of this organization.
