Kayla Reynolds, MD

Resident
Pediatrics - PGY-1

Where are you from? Ninety Six, South Carolina.

Why did you choose the College of Medicine – Tucson Pediatrics Residency Program? I chose UA Peds for residency for many reasons. The warm weather here (the guarantee not to have to shovel snow off my car in the winter) and the gorgeous mountain views, their Spanish Language Distinction Track, the academic half-days, and the bonus of having the parking garage being connected to the hospital.

What are your current professional interests and career goals? Currently, I definitely want to end up inpatient for my career. I am interested in either hospital medicine or infectious disease. One career goal of mine is to become certified to speak to my patients in Spanish.

What are your personal interests and hobbies? I absolutely love playing card games (my wedding was even card themed) — I always have a pack of playing cards with me. Other than that, I always look for K-drama and anime recommendations, my husband and I enjoy going axe-throwing together, and I enjoy going on hikes with my friends.

What is your favorite thing about Tucson? My favorite thing about Tucson (aside from the views) is the diversity in cuisine — everything tastes so good!

What are your non-medical goals during residency? Non-medical goals of mine are to become fluent in ASL, create more personal baking recipes, and visit the Grand Canyon.
