The late Marc Tischler, PhD, was a dedicated scientist, mentor and educator. In addition to his work at the University of Arizona, Dr. Tischler was heavily involved in the Tucson community. He will be missed and his legacy will continue to grow in both the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry and the College of Medicine – Tucson.
Dr. Tischler was professor emeritus of chemistry and biochemistry, having joined the University of Arizona as an assistant professor in 1979 and rising through the ranks until his retirement in 2022. Dr. Tischler was the long-time director of the NIH-funded Maximizing Access to Research Careers program as well as the discipline director and block director of several blocks within the MD curriculum. Dr. Tischler also served as the director of the Medical Bridge Program for almost two decades and received numerous awards in his illustrious career, including multiple Educator and Outstanding Teacher awards through the College of Medicine – Tucson.
