Tahmin Hassan, DO
Where are you from? Tucson.
Why did you choose the College of Medicine – Tucson Pediatrics Residency Program? As a proud Wildcat and U of A alum, I am thrilled to be back in Tucson and serving my community. During my interview, I felt the supportive atmosphere at UA Peds, with attendings who truly love to teach. I also appreciated the close-knit nature of the program and ample mentorship opportunities with the faculty.
What are your current professional interests and career goals? I have a wide range of interests in pediatrics! I enjoy both hospital medicine and outpatient care. I am passionate about global health, working with underserved communities, and advancing health equity. I am excited to explore these areas further and discover where I can make the most impact during residency!
What are your personal interests and hobbies? I love cooking and traveling! I am always catching flights or heading out on spontaneous road trips, and eating my way through different countries and cities. Cooking is a big hobby of mine and a key part of my wellness — I like to tune out the noise and make a great meal. I’m also a big music fan — whether I am at a concert, dancing or singing my heart out at karaoke, I am all in for a good time!
What is your favorite thing about Tucson? Tucson has a vast array of festivals and fairs it hosts. Every year I look forward to the All Souls Procession in honor of Dia de los Muertos, seeing the holiday lights at Winterhaven, and the Gem Show in the spring. Every season is unique in Tucson!
What are your non-medical goals during residency? Outside of medicine, I am excited to keep up with my hobbies and find a good work-life balance. I want to try some new healthy recipes and stay active. I also plan on reading more for pleasure and taking breaks from screens when I am not working.
