Tucson Evaluation Subcommittee (TEVS)

Overview

The Tucson Evaluation Subcommittee (TEVS) is a standing subcommittee of the Tucson Educational Policy Committee (TEPC). Reporting to the TEPC, the TEVS implements program evaluation/review policies established by the TEPC and supports the evaluation and reporting functions of the TEPC for program evaluation of components of the curriculum.

Membership

Membership includes faculty, medical students, and resource members who encompass a wide range and variety of involvement and expertise in the 4-year MD curriculum.
Faculty and medical student members will be invited from the current list of active TEPC members to join the TEVS. These members will actively review and provide feedback for the evaluation reports.

Voting members will be personnel who work in the College of Medicine to help collect and review data for the evaluation reports. These individuals include:

  • Director of Assessment and Evaluation (Chair)
  • Associate Dean for Curricular Affairs
  • Assistant Director of Preclerkship Education
  • Assistant Dean of Clinical Competency
  • Assistant Dean of Foundational Sciences
  • Director of Accreditation
  • Assistant Director of Accreditation
  • Senior Research Analyst, Data
  • Program Manager for Clinical Education
  • Program Manager for Pre-Clinical Education
  • TEPC Chair/Co-Chair
  • TEPC Chair-Elect
  • Curriculum Specialist/Senior Program Coordinator (Co-Chair)
  • Scholarly Projects Representative
  • Doctor and Patient Director 
  • *Ad hoc Members as needed*

The term of service for faculty and student TEPC members will be for the duration of their tenure on TEPC. The terms of service for the support members will be ongoing.

Quorum: A quorum of the TEVS is 50% voting members. E-Votes are allowed if full quorum is not met during monthly meeting.

Responsibilities

  • TEVS will consist of a Chair and Co-Chair to lead the committee in meetings and present to TEPC as needed.
  • Review and provide feedback on TEPC evaluation reports including:
    • Level 2 Reports – Evaluation of the phases (Preclerkship, Clerkship, Transition to Residency)
    • Level 3 Report – Evaluation of the entire 4-year MD curriculum
    • NOTE: Level 1 Reports – Evaluation of the course/clerkship/longitudinal components will only be reviewed by respective block directors, TCCS/TCMS, and TEPC, and not by TEVS
  • Review and report annually on the effectiveness of the Evaluation Plan of the MD program.
  • Make policy recommendations to TEPC with respect to program evaluation and continuous quality improvement.
  • Confer with Curricular Affairs and Instructional Technology to develop/modify methods of data collection and reporting.
  • Recommend to TEPC the dissemination of evaluation data to faculty and the appropriate venues for posting of these data.
