Advanced Emergency Medicine Ultrasonography Fellowship
Expert-Led Training in Point-of-Care Ultrasound
Led by experienced and dedicated faculty, our fellowship offers hands-on training in point-of-care ultrasound to the field’s future leaders.
The University of Arizona Advanced Emergency Medicine Ultrasonography Fellowship is a one-year, EUFAC-accredited program offering hands-on training in point-of-care ultrasound, which is regularly used by residents and staff in the emergency department. Fellows have access to a variety of ultrasound machines and a web-based system (QpathE) for image management, quality assurance, teaching, research and credentialing. The program hosts five fellows and emphasizes clinical excellence, education and research.
The fellowship aims to equip participants with the comprehensive skills needed to manage and lead emergency ultrasound programs. Following ABEM guidelines, the curriculum covers advanced ultrasound applications, education, research and administrative operations such as workflow, equipment management and billing. Graduates are eligible for the ABEM Focused Practice Designation (FPD) exam and are prepared to take on leadership roles in both academic and community emergency departments. The program’s excellence was recognized with the Stellar Clinical Ultrasound Program Award at SCUF22.
