Neurology
Neurohospitalist
Our mission is to improve outcomes for patients with non-vascular neurologic conditions through a commitment to academic inquiry and innovation, cultivating the next generation of neurologists equipped to lead in both academic and community hospital settings.
Research
Our division cultivates a culture of inquiry and continuous improvement, encouraging faculty, residents and students to engage in meaningful research and quality initiatives. We participate in multidisciplinary collaborations aimed at improving communication, diagnosis and outcomes in complex inpatient scenarios — such as the evaluation and management of neurologic complications in patients with infected heart valves. In addition, our faculty lead and support quality improvement projects that address common challenges in inpatient neurology, from epilepsy management to neuroinfectious diseases to diagnostic dilemmas. Whether in academic medical centers or community hospitals, our goal is to translate insights from research into measurable improvements in patient care.
Education
Education is a cornerstone of the Neurohospitalist Division. As dedicated clinician-educators, we are deeply invested in mentoring medical students, residents and fellows to become rigorous, compassionate and reflective practitioners. We provide immersive inpatient neurology experiences that emphasize clinical reasoning, neuroanatomical localization and application of evidence-based medicine in real-time clinical settings. Our teaching philosophy is dynamic and inclusive — valuing bidirectional learning and adapting our approach to meet the evolving needs of trainees. Faculty contribute to curriculum design, simulation-based learning and interdisciplinary conferences, offering structured and engaging educational opportunities. Through bedside teaching, case-based discussions and didactics, we prepare trainees for excellence in both academic and hospital-based neurology practice.
