Research

The pediatric asthma rate is nearly twice the national average in Arizona. Scientists at the Steele Children’s Research Center and the Arizona Respiratory Sciences Center are studying how genes determine a patient’s response to asthma treatment. Knowing which child will respond to which treatment before an asthma attack could mean improved treatment for the 4.7 million children with asthma in the United States, and millions more across the world.

Education

We are preparing medical students, residents and fellows to offer the most up-to-date and compassionate care to their patients and caretakers. Our trainees have opportunities to work with diverse patient populations among several different clinical locations across Tucson during their clerkship rotations as medical students, and during their outpatient pediatrics block and continuity clinics as residents and fellows.
