Research

Our physicians and researchers are conducting various clinical research studies to find new and better ways to care for children and lay the groundwork for healthy, happy lives. Members of our division are investigating therapies, technologies, screening methods and more. For example, Dr. Gerhart has been investigating the effects of early vision screening and treatment on developmental outcomes in children, and Dr. Felman is investigating and implementing an FDA-approved artificial intelligence-assisted software as medical device designed to diagnose or rule out autism in children and adolescents in hopes of reducing time to treatment for children with autism.

Education

We are preparing medical students and residents to offer the most up-to-date and compassionate care to their patients and empower their families with the knowledge they need to stay healthy. Our trainees have opportunities to work with diverse patient populations among several different clinical locations across Tucson during their clerkship rotations as medical students and during their outpatient pediatrics block and continuity clinics as residents.
