People living with chronic pain are more likely to have treatment-resistant depression — or not receive any treatment at all. Dr. Jennifer S. De La Rosa hopes to address the unmet needs of this population.

Holtby Endowed Keynote Presentation, May 16, exploring a rapidly evolving healthcare landscape where artificial intelligence is enhancing how clinicians diagnose, treat and manage disease.

The College of Medicine – Tucson and the College of Medicine – Phoenix, which Blue Ridge combines for ranking purposes, increased their combined funding to $108.2 million, boosting their national rank two spots to No. 55.

GGP’s Amy Klein, MD, palliative medicine medical director at Banner – University Medicine Tucson, was named the 2026 Friend of Nursing Honoree, among several awards presented May 6. Among other honors, nurses in the Cardiology and Nephrology divisions were recognized, too.

Camila Hurtado created her own roadmap to medicine, inspired by her patients and mentored by faculty at the College of Medicine – Tucson. She is now poised to become an ear, nose and throat surgeon.

Geoffrey D. Rubin, MD, MBA, professor and chair of radiology and imaging sciences, has been named president-elect of the Association of Academic Radiology.
