Andrea L. McFerren, DO

Dr. McFerren is a psychiatrist who specializes in child, adolescent and adult mental health at Banner – University Medical Center South. She is committed to delivering quality mental health care to patients and working with the department’s trainees.

Dr. McFerren has a particular interest in women’s mental health and collaborated with a local OB-GYN office during her fellowship at Michigan State University to provide mental health services to pregnant, postpartum and perimenopausal women. After completing her training, she served for three years as the clinical lead at the Pine Rest Mother & Baby Partial Hospitalization Program. In that role, she supported two grant-funded projects, acted as the primary investigator for a pilot study on gut health and postpartum depression, collaborated with state leaders on initiatives to improve perinatal mental health outcomes across Michigan, and played an instrumental role in the development and supervision of the Women’s Reproductive Mental Health track within the residency program.

Outside work, she enjoys spending time with her husband and two daughters, working in her family’s garden, reading a good book and hiking.
