Carolina Machado Alves Cavalheiro, MD

Where are you from? I was born in São Paulo and raised in Salvador, Bahia, Brazil.

Why did you choose the College of Medicine – Tucson Pediatrics Residency Program? I came for a second look after the interviews and just fell in love with the program, the hospital and the faculty. I felt very comfortable here and knew it was going to be my first choice, so I am so glad to be here!

What are your current professional interests and career goals? I am planning to pursue a career as a pediatric hospitalist, but I am also open to discovering new interests along the way!

What are your personal interests and hobbies? I love traveling and spending quality time with my husband, family and friends. I also enjoy going to the movies, trying new restaurants and dancing.

What is your favorite thing about Tucson? The mountains view, the sunset and the beautiful sky! They are absolutely incredible!

What are your nonmedical goals during residency? To make good friends, explore different parts of the U.S., and hopefully become a mom!
