Claudio Bernardazzi M. Azevedo

Assistant Research Professor, Pediatrics

Dr. Bernardazzi received his undergraduate degree in biomedicine, followed by a master's degree in cell biology and anatomy, and a doctorate in sciences from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro in Brazil.

 

His research focuses on the molecular mechanisms that regulate intestinal homeostasis and inflammation, with a particular emphasis on the role of sodium/hydrogen exchangers in gastrointestinal health and disease. His work investigates how epithelial ion transport influences mucosal barrier function, immune responses, gut microbiota and the development of chronic inflammatory conditions of the gut.
