Colleen Christmas, MD, FACP, FACM

Dr. Christmas joined the University of Arizona faculty in August 2026. She has more than three decades of experience in geriatric primary care and medical education. Following a three-year geriatric medicine fellowship, she previously served at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine as a full-time faculty member from 1999 through 2025, transitioning to adjunct faculty in January 2026.

Throughout her tenure at Johns Hopkins, Dr. Christmas held numerous leadership and educational roles. She served as Internal Medicine Residency Program Director at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center from 2003 to 2015, was a faculty advisor in the college's advising program from 2016 to 2025, and founded and directed the Primary Care Leadership Track for medical students from 2014 to 2025.

Dr. Christmas is nationally recognized for her commitment to clinical excellence and primary care education. She served as governor of the Maryland chapter of the American College of Physicians and is now chair of the ACP National Board of Governors. Her scholarly work includes publications and curricula focused on three primary areas: educating nongeriatricians in geriatric principles, advancing best practices in geriatric clinical care and developing innovative educational approaches to teaching primary care. Her contributions to medical education have been recognized with multiple prominent national teaching and education awards.
