Elise Weatherbie, DO

Resident

Where are you from?

Escanaba, Michigan

What are your personal interests/hobbies?

Really anything outdoors. I especially enjoy road and mountain biking, hiking and rock climbing. I also love to travel, bake and watch movies.

What are your professional interests?

I am interested in austere and wilderness medicine. I also enjoy POCUS and have had great mentors who’ve deepened my appreciation for both its clinical utility and the hands-on aspect of scanning.

Why did you choose U of A Emergency Medicine?

When I visited Tucson and the U of A during my second look, I didn't want to leave. I love the surrounding environment, and the staff and residents at the U of A were all friendly and easy to get along with.

What is your favorite activity in Tucson or what attracted you to Tucson besides the residency program?

Tucson has great access to the outdoors. The desert landscape is breathtaking, and the city itself is vibrant and has an amazing food scene.

What are your nonmedical goals during residency?

I hope to meet new people, try new food and I would love to bike up Mount Lemmon. I also want to be able to name all the desert flora.
