Hailey Patterson, MD

Resident, Pediatrics - PGY-1

Where are you from? Tucson is home! I was born in Florida but grew up in Tucson, with a few years spent living near Washington, D.C., and in Southern California after college.

Why did you choose the College of Medicine – Tucson Pediatrics Residency Program? Tucson has been home for most of my life, so the opportunity to continue my training here and serve the community that helped shape me was incredibly meaningful. I also genuinely love the people in this program. I wanted to train somewhere supportive and collaborative, where people truly enjoy working together, and I knew I had found that here.

What are your current professional interests and career goals? My primary interest is general pediatrics, with the goal of practicing outpatient primary care. As a former teacher, I especially love the continuity of watching children grow and the opportunity to partner with families, schools and communities to support children beyond the clinic.

What are your personal interests and hobbies? Outside of medicine, I love surfing, sailing, scrapbooking, traveling, and spending time with my husband and our two shih tzus.

What is your favorite thing about Tucson? Definitely the food! Tucson is a UNESCO City of Gastronomy, and I love trying new restaurants and revisiting old favorites. Add in the mountains and sunsets, and it’s hard to beat.

What are your nonmedical goals during residency? Continue exploring Tucson, travel whenever I can, spend lots of time with family and friends, and hopefully squeeze in a few surfing and sailing trips along the way!
