Hossein Ardehali, MD, PhD

Dr. Ardehali is a leading figure in cardiovascular research and education. His research focuses on the role of mitochondria and metabolism in cardiovascular disease, specifically the role of mitochondrial iron in cardiomyopathy. His work has been instrumental in advancing our understanding of these processes and has led to significant breakthroughs in potential therapies for heart disease. He has mentored nearly 25 postdoctoral fellows and 30 graduate and medical students in his career.

He is a member of the Association of American Physicians. He served as the 2021-22 president of the American Society for Clinical Investigation and has held several leadership positions, including serving on numerous committees for the American Heart Association. He is also a fellow of the AHA, as well as the American College of Cardiology and the International Society for Heart Research. In addition, he serves as deputy editor of the Journal of Clinical Investigation and on the editorial board of Circulation Research, PLoS ONE and JAHA.
