J. Hunter Howie, MA

Hunter Howie is a clinical psychology PhD candidate at the University of Kansas. Before graduate school, Hunter served as a senior clinical research coordinator in Boston, where he contributed to several large-scale biobanking studies at Massachusetts General Hospital and McLean Psychiatric Hospital.

During his graduate studies, Howie trained in various clinical settings, including a community mental health clinic, a Veterans Affairs medical center, and both forensic and acute behavioral health psychiatric inpatient units. His dissertation research focuses on examining metacognitive functioning (a nonclinical psychosis phenotype) and those with first-episode psychosis. Above all, Howie aims to engage in research and clinical practice that will help identify barriers to recovery and improve treatments for individuals diagnosed with serious mental illness. 

In his free time, Howie enjoys playing tennis, throwing pottery and reading fantasy/sci-fi novels.
