Jacob Denton, MD

Resident
Bronze A Paul O'Mara

Where are you from? Phoenix

What are your personal interests/hobbies? I enjoy staying physically active, be it in the gym or out and about Tucson. I love playing tabletop board games and chess. I’m also a big fan of oil painting alongside a Bob Ross recording.

What are your professional interests? Toxicology, EMS and wilderness medicine.

Why did you choose our program? I’ve yet to meet an attending or resident at South who I haven’t enjoyed working with. The atmosphere is incredibly supportive and welcoming, and the vibes in the doc box have always been immaculate. I also really like the hybrid community/academic feel that comes with the partnership between Main and South campus.

Favorite activity in Tucson, or what attracted you to Tucson besides the residency program? Tucson is the perfect intersection of big and small city. There’s plenty to do and see, but the wilderness is only a short drive away. The food here is also divine; there’s a reason we’re one of the two U.S. cities to be awarded City of Gastronomy by UNESCO.

What are your non-medical goals during residency? Finally, get up to Mount Lemmon during the winter and learn how to snowboard.
