Kennedy Zebro, DO
Where are you from? I grew up in Wisconsin, but I spent most of my adult life in Scottsdale, Arizona.
What are your personal interests and hobbies? I love painting, interior design, cooking, golf, coffee shops, HIIT workouts, shopping and hanging out with my husband and mini bernedoodle, Burke.
What are your professional interests? Ultrasound and medical education
Why did you choose U of A emergency medicine? Even through a computer screen, I could immediately feel how genuine, tight-knit and supportive the South Campus community is, and that really stood out to me. It was also evident that resident wellness and family support aren’t just talked about but truly prioritized.
Also, the clinical training at South Campus is exactly what I’m looking for. I believe a confident, capable emergency medicine physician is someone who is comfortable managing critically ill patients, performing procedures and caring for a wide range of pathology and a diverse patient population. South Campus offers that balance of strong training and a supportive environment, which is exactly what I was hoping to find in a program.
What is your favorite activity in Tucson or what attracted you to Tucson besides the residency program? I actually completed my first year of undergrad at the University of Arizona, so I’ve always been eager to return and be a Wildcat again, especially after spending my third year of medical school in Tucson for clerkships. My husband and I are both from the Midwest, and we genuinely love Tucson’s “hometown,” down-to-earth feel. We enjoy hiking, date nights at Roadie’s, strolling around La Encantada and exploring the city’s unique food scene.
What are your nonmedical goals during residency? I want to be intentional about maintaining my relationships and overall well-being by staying active, being consistent with fitness classes, getting outdoors and just making sure I’m present at home. I think having that balance is critical and ultimately makes for a better physician.
