Dr. Hinestroza earned her medical degree in her native Colombia, and afterward worked as a rural physician at the Centro de Salud El Carmen de Darien, near the border with Panama. Then, she moved to Quibdó, Colombia, where she served as a physician coordinator with a mobile health unit and as a general physician for the Colombian Red Cross. Following that, she was a general physician at Santa Monica Hospital in Dosquebradas, Colombia. Dr. Hinestroza came to the United States to complete her internal medicine residency and infectious diseases fellowship before joining our faculty in 2023.
