Blute is a neurosurgery nurse practitioner and a state-registered certified emergency paramedic. He has more than 15 years in emergency medicine, beginning his career in 2003 as a firefighter and paramedic for a local Southern Arizona fire department. He additionally served as a member of the department’s technical rescue team assisting multiple rescue operations including swift water rescue, high angle rope rescue, confined space rescue and building collapse rescues. He also served eight years as a flight paramedic and flight nurse on an emergency medical helicopter treating critically ill and injured patients throughout Arizona.

He now provides care to patients across the lifespan, and is currently pursuing his doctorate at Wichita State University. He is a member of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons and the American Association of Nurse Practitioners.

Previously, he has co-founded a company that provided CPR and first aid classes to corporations and community members. He served as part of the Base Hospital Coordinator’s office at Banner UMC Tucson providing education for Southern Arizona EMS agencies, as well as helping develop policies and procedures for the Southeastern Arizona Emergency Medical Services Council (SAEMS). He further served as a lead instructor for the EPIC Traumatic Brain Injury program. He has also taught rope rescue certification courses in Arizona and New Jersey for other technical rescue teams.

He enjoys spending time outside of work with his family and pursuing activities such as golfing, swimming, biking and playing guitar.
