Sara Bertram, MD

Resident, Pediatrics - PGY-3

Where are you from? Glendale, Arizona

Why did you choose the College of Medicine – Tucson Pediatrics Residency Program? I chose the College of Medicine – Tucson after completing a rotation here as a medical student. I felt so welcomed by the residents, and I loved how supportive everyone was. I also enjoyed the teaching on rounds from the hospitalists and specialty teams.

What are your current professional interests and career goals? I am applying to pediatric endocrinology fellowships. I am interested in gender-affirming care, obesity medicine and diabetes.

What are your personal interests and hobbies? Outside of work, I am usually found training for triathlons. I also enjoy reading, playing piano, cooking and spending time with my family.

What is your favorite thing about Tucson? I love being outside, and Tucson is the perfect place for that. My favorite part of Tucson is either The Loop (about 130 miles of paved bike and pedestrian paths) or being able to get out into the mountains within 30 minutes.

What are your nonmedical goals during residency? Exploring new national parks, do more trail running and maybe even sign up for an ultramarathon.
