Stanley E. Okosun, MD, MS, FACS

Clinical Assistant Professor, Trauma, Surgical Critical Care, Burns, and Acute Care Surgery

Dr. Okosun serves as the Trauma Medical Director at Banner – University Medical Center South. Prior to joining the University of Arizona, Dr. Okosun was a trauma and critical care surgeon at the ACS-verified level II trauma center Bryan West Medical Center in Lincoln, Nebraska. There, he also served as the trauma medical director and the chair of the Nebraska State Committee on Trauma. Additionally, he was a member of the National Committee on Trauma Performance Improvement and Patient Safety as well as the National Committee on Rural Trauma.

For the past several years, Dr. Okosun has participated in the Nigerian Global Medical Initiative at the University of Benin Teaching Hospital. He is particularly focused on injury prevention and patient safety, and he takes a strong interest in trauma outreach within the community.

He has publications in the Journal of Trauma and has presented at the Annual Meeting of the American Association for the Surgery of Trauma. He is also currently a member of the American College of Surgeons, the Eastern Association for Surgery of Trauma, and the American Association for the Surgery of Trauma. Outside of the operating room, Dr. Okosun enjoys spending time with his family and watching soccer.
