Statement on Access, Community & Belonging
The Department of Pediatrics is committed to creating and sustaining a culture of access, community and belonging throughout our educational, research, and clinical missions. We value our staff, faculty and trainees, and are committed to maintaining a respectful and inclusive environment in which all feel accepted, safe, empowered and supported to reach their full potential. We believe that all children must grow and develop in a world that prizes their individual dignity and does not create systemic barriers that impede their success. Our goal is to provide high-quality health care to our patients, their families and the community across all intersections of identity from race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, religion, socioeconomic status and many other dimensions, reflecting the richness of culture of Tucson and Southern Arizona. We will strive to be leaders in our equity and inclusion efforts and to create a learning and work environment where everyone can use their distinct skills and talents to make a difference in our community and beyond.
